(This was yesterday)
I have been lazy recently and this week I only went twice. I think the reason is that I got discouraged for not seeing the progress I was hoping for. It started out really nice. Then, for several weeks, I couldn't jump due to the knee injury which made me start shooting on one foot. And then was good enough to shoot on two feet again. I was really seeing a good progress after Day 80. But last couple weeks, I lost confidence, not being able to make shots consistently. I think it was after one Wednesday, when I couldn't make any 3's (maybe like 1 of 8). Seeing that my practices not translating into the actual game shots took away my confidence.
But being discouraged is the last thing I need. What I need is more practice with focused attention to details. Yesterday, I didn't want to get started on my normal 100-attempts. Because I didn't want to end up below 50% and get even more discouraged. But I did, and it clicked again. I shot 28/50 and then for the 2nd half, I started recording. And here's the video, starting out with 10 consecutive makes.
I knew it wasn't gonna be a steady improvement. I will have ups and downs with slumps along the way. But what I need to do is to just push through. And then when looking back, I will have made an amazing progress. I'm talking about basketball 3-point shooting, but this applies to many other things in life. I'm just using "basketball" to make a point.
